Assistive technology refers to a broad range of devices, strategies, and practices that are used to improve the functional capabilities of individuals with disabilities and can offer opportunities for independence, creativity, employment and participation. Assistive technology can facilitate daily activities including:
- Environmental Control - with adapted light and appliance controls
- Play and Leisure - with adapted toys and computer software
- Work and School - with adapted computer and software, good ergonomics and visual aids
- Communication - with electronic speaking devices and speech enhancers
